If you have received a postcard or letter about an urgent issue with your mortgage urging you to call an unknown number, be aware that it is likely a scam. These mailings, which might resemble official notices from your lender, are not from Beacon Credit Union or any legitimate financial institution. Scammers use public data records to send these deceptive letters to sell you something or steal your identity.
The letters often include your lender’s name and a small disclaimer stating they are “Not Affiliated With” your lender. Public records, such as lien filings or property purchase documents, allow scammers to access your information and make the letters appear legitimate.
If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of a letter please reach out to our Contact Center at (800) 762-3136, or directly to your established lending professional at Beacon Credit Union.
