Wabash, IN. (May 13, 2026) – Beacon Credit Union is pleased to announce the promotion of Michelle Bates to Vice President of Retail Lending. In her new role, Bates will lead the Retail Loan team by fostering a supportive environment focused on growth and development, while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure lending products and processes continue to meet the needs of both members and employees.
Bates will also work closely with Member Center Managers and frontline staff to maintain smooth and efficient operations across retail lending services. Additionally, she will assist with loan package approvals and support management in establishing team goals and objectives.
Bates brings more than 22 years of experience with Beacon Credit Union to her new position. She began her career as a teller before advancing through several roles including Member Service Representative, Loan Clerk, Loan Officer, Underwriter, and Senior Loan Underwriter.

A graduate of Maconaquah High School, Bates resides just south of Peru with her husband, Brad. They have been married for 28 years and have two children and five grandchildren.
