Seymour, IN (August 14) – Beacon Credit Union’s Seymour Member Center recently donated $500 to the Jackson County United Way’s Rock n Ready School Supply Assistance Program, helping local students prepare for the upcoming school year with essential supplies.
The Rock n Ready program provides students with backpacks filled with basic school supplies, helping ease the financial burden families may face when preparing for a new school year. The program also connects students and families with local organizations and resources that can support them throughout the school year.
“I believe in donating to Rock n Ready because it can make a meaningful difference in a child’s life by helping them be prepared for school with the basic supplies they need,” said Amy Steitz, Member Center Manager at Beacon Credit Union’s Seymour location and a member of the Rock n Ready committee. “Donating school supplies is an investment in students’ ability to learn, participate and succeed.”
The program provides more than school supplies. During this year’s event, local organizations offered families information about community resources, while Blush and Brush provided free haircuts to help students feel ready for the start of school. Girls Inc. and other organizations also shared information about programs available to students and families.
