Rushville, IN (February 12) – Beacon Credit Union’s Rushville Member Center recently presented a $500 donation to support a benefit event for Sami Glover, a local mother facing an unexpected and challenging medical journey.

Sami was recently diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the parotid and salivary gland while pregnant with her third child. What began as a normal pregnancy quickly turned into a life-altering situation, resulting in the early delivery of her baby at 32 weeks so she could begin an aggressive treatment plan for the rare cancer. As Sami undergoes intensive out-of-town treatments, she is also caring for a newborn in the NICU and raising two other children at home.

The benefit event, hosted at the American Legion in Rushville, was organized to provide encouragement and financial support as Sami and her family navigate this difficult time. Sami is well known in the Rushville community through her involvement in her family farm and military service, and the community has rallied around her in remarkable ways.

“The arrival of a newborn is meant to be a time of joy and excitement, but for Sami and her family, it has become an unknown and frightening journey,” said Diana Marlatt Rushville Member Center Manager. “As a mother, I cannot imagine what Sami is going through. We wanted to show our support as she balances daily travel for treatments, caring for her newborn in the NICU, and raising her other children. Our community is always wonderful at showing up for one another.”
