Beacon CU is receiving an increasing number of reports from our membership of text/phone scams claiming to be from our Fraud Department. The texts/calls ask to verify a fake transaction on the member’s debit card. After the member responds, they get another text or receives a call asking for account information. Many times, they spoof the phone number, so it appears that it is coming from Beacon CU.
If you get an unsolicited call, email or text:
DO NOT provide your debit or credit card number or PIN during an unsolicited phone call.
Beacon Credit Union has your card number on file and will never ask for the number or your PIN.
NEVER provide a one-time passcode (OTP) or download any app that will allow someone to share your screen
Beacon Credit Union will not send an OTP in order to block your card or refund your account and will not ask for you to download an app or file to give access to your phone.
