The winners of the seventh annual “Project Spotlight” charitable giving campaign have been announced! For a complete list of winners – click here. Project Spotlight is a program created by Beacon Credit Union with the hope that individuals and organizations would be inspired to reach out and serve those living and working around them. The campaign took place in all 12 of the communities that Beacon has a full service branch located.
Residents in the participating communities nominated worthwhile charitable organizations, community projects, and local non-for-profits that they believed deserved financial support. Community members were then able to vote for their favorite cause either online or in their local Beacon Credit Union branch. Voters were allowed to vote once per day per community. This year, we received a total of 85,300 votes between August 1 and September 30.
Beacon Credit Union decided to nominate the top 3 in each of the 12 communities. The project in each community that received the most votes won $1,000 of funding from Beacon Credit Union. The second place winner in each community received $500 of funding, and the third place winner in each community received $250 of funding. The total amount of money donated to charitable organizations in Northeast Indiana by Beacon Credit Union through Project Spotlight was $21,000.
