Over the past week, some of our members have experienced unusual phone calls and text messages from scammers pretending to represent Beacon Credit Union.

The scammers are trying to get the member’s debit card number, 3-digit security code from the back of their card, social security number, and other identifiable information. Then, the scammers use this information to make authorized transactions.

In some situations, if the transactions are denied, the fraudster claims to be our member and needs help with point of sale transactions that are not being approved. They keep the member on hold and go back and forth between the financial institution and the member who had provided their personal information.

Please share this fraud scheme with your family and friends so we can better protect each other and ourselves from falling victim to these scams.

If you receive suspicious calls or texts based on the above information, please do not respond and immediately contact your financial institution.
