Huntington, IN (April 7) – Beacon Credit Union is proud to support the Huntington County Humane Society with a $500 donation aimed at helping provide care and essential services for animals in need throughout the community.

The contribution will assist the organization in its ongoing efforts to reduce the stray cat population and promote responsible pet ownership through spay and neuter programs. These services are critical in preventing overcrowding in shelters and ensuring animals can live healthy, happy lives in safe homes.

The Huntington County Humane Society serves a vital role in the community, caring for nearly 2,000 animals each year. A significant portion of its resources is dedicated to spay and neuter procedures, one of the most effective ways to prevent homelessness among pets. These procedures also represent one of the organization’s largest expenses annually.

Funds from this donation will help support the Humane Society’s upcoming Furry Fix initiative, which raises money to offset the cost of spay and neuter surgeries. Through this program, community members are able to access these services at a significantly reduced cost, making responsible pet care more accessible.

“It’s great to give to a program designed to save lives and helps keep the stray cat population down in our community,” said a Beacon Credit Union Huntington Member Center Manager, Nathan Zeller. “By offering a significant discount, it makes this option more attainable to more members of the community.”

Beacon Credit Union remains committed to giving back to the communities it serves and supporting organizations that make a meaningful impact. By partnering with local nonprofits like the Huntington County Humane Society, Beacon continues to help create stronger, healthier communities for both people and animals alike.
