Fulton Co. Pork Producers/New Pens

The Fulton County Pork Producers’ main focus is supporting youth in Fulton County. We work alongside the 4-H Swine Committee to help promote pork, agriculture, and leadership. Pork Producers provides scholarships each year to deserving young leaders, they sponsor and put on a swine open show, and the Carcass Show. These shows provide an opportunity for youth to showcase their leadership, swine husbandry, and the animals themselves. One main focus of the organization has been to continue to make improvements to the Swine barn facilities. The project we are currently working on is replacing pens in the barn, which are aged approximately 35 years. New pens would improve safety, provide a greater ease of use, especially for younger kids, and increase pride in the barn and their project.

The Support Cafe / Girl Code

At the support cafe, I am a licensed therapist associate. I run groups and programs meant for empowerment, advocacy, learning, and healing as well as provide clinical mental health therapy. Last year we completed a trial run of our Girl Code program where we provided IPads to women to participate in the program and learn how to use the SwiftUI to code and make apps. Of four participants, two completed the program by making an app and an interactive book! I would like to make the program happen again! I think it is amazing to teach women the skills that can help them get jobs and earn an income!
