- "Free Credit Report" Pop-Up Scam Resurfaces
Beacon has been made aware that a marketing scam has resurfaced. The scam involves pop-up ads on your computer, branded with the Beacon logo. If you should encounter this pop-up ad, please do not click on any associated links, nor provide any financial or other sensitive information online. The pop-up ad did not come from Beacon Credit Union, and we will never ask you to provide such information through an email or pop-up message.

You may have already heard that Target has confirmed a massive data breach. At this time, Target has stated nearly all of its stores are included in the breach. The compromise (according to reports) started on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 and continued through Sunday, December 15, 2013. Nearly 40 million consumer card numbers are at risk for fraud.Read More

- New Text Scam.
DO NOT RESPOND TO TEXT MESSAGES REQUESTING INFORMATION …
Over the weekend, fraudsters have been sending out mass text messages to consumers claiming to be from Beacon Credit Union. The text messages are being sent to both Beacon Credit Union members and non-members. It alerts the recipient that their account has been limited and they must call the phone number provided. Once the recipient calls the number, they are directed to enter their account number. Please rest assured that there has NOT been a breach in security -- these fraudsters have no way of knowing who does or does not hold an account with Beacon. - State Police Warn Consumers about Publisher Clearing House Scam
The Indiana State Police are warning consumers of a new twist on the old sweepstakes winnings scam. Multiple consumers across the state have received phone calls from individuals claiming to be Publishers Clearing House representatives. Indiana State Police and Publisher Clearing House are asking that consumers remember you will never have to pay advance fees on winnings. Any time you are asked or instructed to send money in order to claim your large payout winnings, it’s a scam.Read More
