2008 Scholarship Program

Scholarships Available to Student Members of Beacon Credit Union

The Board of Directors of Beacon Credit Union has announced that eight (8) $500.00 student scholarships will be available to members or their children.  The scholarship program is targeted to financially assist students entering their freshman or sophomore year of college in furthering their education.  Applications and a complete explanation of the program are available on the web and at any of our Beacon Credit Union locations.

Students will be required to submit a 200-300 word essay based on the following question:

Since 2003, the US government has issued redesigned currency with state-of-the-art security features to stay ahead of counterfeiters. What are the features of the newly designed bills with respect to anti-counterfeiting and what are the government’s plans for the future?

All essays will be judged on accuracy, creativity, attention to detail and organization. Each participant will also be required to complete an application and provide a transcript of their most recent semester in school. Finally, all entries should be postmarked no later than March 31, 2008 and submitted to:

*Please note: In order to be eligible for this scholarship opportunity a parent, guardian, or the applicant must be a member of Beacon Credit Union as of December 1, 2007.
